Terms of Service
1. Nature of Counselling
Counselling is a collaborative process designed to facilitate emotional well-being, personal growth, and mental health support. It is not psychotherapy, medical treatment, or a substitute for psychiatric care.
2. Confidentiality
All client information is protected under Canada's PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
Exceptions:
- Child Protection: Mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect.
- Risk of Harm: Disclosure may occur if there is imminent risk of harm to yourself or others.
- Legal Requirements: Court orders or legal mandates.
- Professional Oversight: Anonymous case supervision with a qualified supervisor.
3. Cancellation Policy
Sessions require 24 hours' notice for cancellation. Cancellations with less notice (except emergencies) will be charged the full fee.
4. Payments
- Payment is due at time of booking
- Packages expire after 6 months
- No refunds for completed sessions
5. Temporary Pause in Services
Being Human Counselling is currently experiencing a temporary pause in client services during a transition into independent practice. New counselling sessions are not being scheduled until professional requirements are in place. Current and previous clients may request to be added to a waitlist by contacting info@bhc.org. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee a specific appointment date or time.
6. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
